Police have recently renewed an appeal to help catch the people who fly-tipped in Walsham-Le-Willows. Local authorities have many schemes in place to help avoid fly-tipping, but it seems a small group of people still have no regard for the local environment.
Police found 30 to 40 tonnes of industrial waste left on a road in Walsham-Le-Willows this month. Enquiries are underway to identify the culprits guilty of dumping rubbish at the side of Finningham Road.
They have identified that the waste was unloaded by a tractor and trailer, the culprit who dumped all the waste will be formally interviewed by police and council officials. However further investigations show that it has been dumped on private land by someone else and then later moved to the roadside.
Police will continue to investigate who is the real culprit and look for the person who originally fly-tipped the waste. Reports say that police are also linking this current incident to a second case where roughly 25 tonnes of waste material was dumped on a hard standing area off the A134 between Long Melford and Sudbury.
The reports say that the waste that has been dumped are plastic carpet shielding, sheeting and painting pots and many more which was seen to be dumped on Friday 24th April around 5pm and Sunday 26th April around 8am.;
PC Mark Bryant who is a Rural Crime officer said: “This is the second large find of waste and we suspect these two incidents may be linked. Someone must know who is responsible.
With a total of more than 50 tonnes of waste, including similar items, being found at these two locations, there has to have been a re-fit or clear out of some scale and we’d ask caretakers and those in the carpeting and flooring industry in particular to come forward if you think you can help us trace where this has come from.”
These incidents have taken a significant amount of time for the agencies involved to clear up. Such acts as this one can cause very serious damage to the local environment which can pose a massive danger to any road user as it can be an obstacle in their path.
