NEWS & PROJECTS

Clean City Awards Scheme

The scheme was established in 1994 and has developed partnerships with all types of businesses by encouraging them to reduce, reuse and recycle. As waste is often not managed properly in the city, it tends to cause problems environmentally and publically – so the scheme aims to:

• Promote good waste management practices
• Encourage waste minimisation, reuse and recycling
• Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill
• Ensure compliance with Duty of Care regulations
• Encourage City businesses to take pride in their surroundings
• Provide a forum for City businesses to exchange waste management initiatives<
• Reduce smoking related litter

The Clean City Awards Scheme improves waste management systems which can save your company money by reducing all unwanted waste allowing you to recycle or reuse more. By being part of the scheme you will be recognised and rewarded for the hard work, which enhances your company’s environmental credentials and improves the company’s image.

When you join the Clean City Awards Scheme, you can attend the environmental best practise meetings where members can hear from waste management organisations and advisors. The meetings enable all members to exchange ideas on waste management, waste minimisation, reuse and recycling which may make your company resource more efficiently. It is instrumental in raising the standard of environmental performance of City businesses by connecting them with best practices and providing the greatest opportunities to progress further.
