Gants Hill is a district of Ilford in the London Borough of Redbridge. It is a suburban development situated 9.5 miles northeast of Charing Cross and it is also the name of a roundabout junction within the district. Gants Hill is mostly a residential area with a selection of retail outlets, a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, bars and a hotel.

At the beginning of June 2009, Gants Hill roundabout and its surrounding area underwent an extensive renovation. The new renovation project included new signalised pedestrian crossings around the roundabout whilst the Gants Hill subways received new floor tiles and coloured banding on the walls. The new renovation project was paid for by Transport for London and was completed in late September 2010. Boris Johnson unveiled a plaque to mark his visit at the completion of the roundabout.

Gants Hill station is the easternmost station to be entirely below ground on the London Underground network and is the busiest station on the Hainault loop of the Central line. The station is located beneath Gants Hill roundabout and is known for having a large arched waiting area between the platforms which is similar to some stations on the Moscow metro. Construction originally began in the 1930s but was suspended during the Second World War. The station was finally completed and opened on 14 December 1947.

Valentines Park is the largest green space in the London Borough of Redbridge, located between Ilford and Gants Hill. Valentines Park was acquired in various purchases and gifts of land, starting in 1898 and culminating in the 1920s. County Cricket was first played at Valentine’s Park in Ilford in 1922 and a pavilion was completed a year later. The first ever county match with Sunday play was played here, this proved to be a success with 6000 spectators attending.

Odeon Cinemas is a British chain of cinemas operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland. In 2007 Odeon acquired 10 cinemas in Italy and is now the largest cinema chain in Europe. In terms of sites, Odeon is currently the largest cinema chain in Britain but it has fallen to the third most popular cinema in terms of admissions under UCI Group’s ownership after years of being the Market Leader under the previous management of Rank and Cinven. Gants Hill had its very own Odeon cinema, located between Eastern Avenue and Perth Road but was sadly demolished in 2003 to provide space for a block of flats.
